Why We Stand with Israel
NHOP explains the biblical basis for standing with Israel: God's covenant faithfulness, the Genesis 12:3 promise, and the call to pray for the Jewish people.
What happened
On its dedicated Israel position page, the National House of Prayer sets out the biblical conviction behind one of its core ministry pillars. NHOP recounts how Israel has been a consistent thread through its history, from a 1999 act of repentance toward Jewish survivors of the MS St. Louis, the refugee ship Canada turned away, to an early-2023 call for intercessors worldwide to fast and pray for the peace of Jerusalem. The page describes the October 7 Hamas attack, in which NHOP says more than 1,100 Israeli civilians were murdered and 240 taken hostage, as a moment that thrust Israel to the forefront. NHOP states that God has not cast off the people of Israel nor broken His covenant with them (Romans 11:1, 29; Psalm 105:8-11), that God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who despise her (Genesis 12:3), and that God's plans for the Church in Canada are linked to His plans for the Jewish people (Romans 11:25-26). For this reason NHOP says it is committed to growing in its understanding of the One New Man (Ephesians 2:11-22) and to calling the praying Church in Canada to stand for Israel.
