Stripped of the surrounding political rhetoric, this is a public demonstration of the profound and ongoing grief, tension, and opposing legal and moral appeals that continue to define the current conflict.
Why it matters
Diplomatic visits often serve as flashpoints for deep-seated pain and division, bringing the stark realities of conflict to the forefront. The protests highlight the genuine complexity and human distress felt across communities. As watchmen on the walls, we are called to look past the political theater and recognize the spiritual need. We do not align with partisanship, nor do we accept any form of antisemitism or anti-Muslim hatred. Instead, we are guided by James 3:18: 'Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.' In a moment charged with accusation and anger, our role is to sow peace—interceding for leaders who desperately need divine wisdom, and for populations that desperately need comfort and a redemptive path forward.

Ways to pray
- Pray for all leaders meeting in Washington, asking that God would grant them the wisdom and courage to make decisions that lead to genuine peace.
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), and for the safety, dignity, and flourishing of all people—both Israelis and Palestinians—affected by the conflict.
- Ask God to protect the hearts of everyone involved from hatred, bitterness, and violence, replacing a spirit of fear with one of reconciliation.
- Pray that the global Church would faithfully stand as a House of Prayer for all nations, sowing seeds of peace rather than joining in political division.
A short prayer
Heavenly Father, in a time of intense protest and deep division, we ask for Your wisdom to guide the leaders meeting in Washington. Give them eyes to see a path to peace. Guard our hearts from contempt, and help us to faithfully sow shalom, trusting in Your irrevocable promises. In Jesus' name, Amen.
