Scholars Launch New Body to Study the Post-October 7 Antisemitism Surge
Researchers have formed a new association to study the rise in antisemitism since October 7, the questions it raises, and how Christians can pray.
What happened
Researchers from across Israel and the Jewish world gathered at the University of Haifa in July for a conference on contemporary antisemitism and launched the Contemporary Antisemitism Studies Association. The new academic body will examine why antisemitism has risen since October 7 and how it spreads. Participants considered the roles of social media, artificial intelligence, historical propaganda, and academic ideas. Their differing explanations show that the causes remain contested and require careful, evidence-based study.

This research matters beyond the conference because Jewish communities in Canada and elsewhere are living with the effects the scholars are examining. Careful study can help institutions and neighbours respond responsibly without reaching for simplistic explanations. The National House of Prayer has previously addressed antisemitism in Canada and calls Christians to stand with Jewish neighbours on ethical grounds while also rejecting hatred toward every other community. God of comfort and truth, protect Jewish communities, give researchers wisdom and integrity, and help us reject contempt in every form. Teach us to listen carefully, act with courage, and become faithful neighbours. Amen.
